Men's Group Retreat
The Men’s Group is holding a full-weekend retreat in July, and there’s still time to join us! It will be the week end of July 11-13, at the Mary and Joseph Retreat Center in Rancho Palos Verdes. To view their terrific facilities go to maryjoseph.org. We had a great retreat there last year. Wonderful food and insightful meetings led by Fr. Jon. The cost is $425 for a shared room and $545 for a single room. This covers Friday dinner, breakfast, lunch, and dinner Saturday and breakfast and lunch Sunday, as well as lodging for Friday and Saturday nights. Meetings Friday evening, Saturday, and Mass on Sunday morning, as well as a social hour Saturday evening. A $100 deposit can be made on the church’s website, under “giving." Please let us know of your interest by June 20 (you can email Jim Stewart at jestew@ucla.edu or alanheppel@icloud.com, or notify the church office when you make your deposit). We look forward to your fellowship!
The St. James Pride Month Book Discussion
Please join vestry member Matt Wallace and Father Jon Feuss in the vestry room after the 10:30 service the first four Sundays in June as we make our way through From Sin to Amazing Grace: Discovering the Queer Christ by Fr. Patrick Cheng. For centuries, LGBTQ+ people have been called sinful. Fr. Cheng's book asks how, in light of that painful history, LGBTQ+ Christians can reclaim the doctrines of sin and God's amazing grace in their spiritual lives. We will also discuss the joys and challenges of being an LGBTQ+ Christian. All parishioners are welcome at these discussions. Please email Fr. Jon Feuss at jfeuss@stjla.org if you would like to participate.
Celebrating Pentecost
Last Sunday we entered the Pentecost season celebrating Father Aidan Koh and his 30+ years as a priest and school chaplain here at St James Church and School. It was also our last school Sunday of the season.
Congratulations to the Class of 2025 as they graduate from Saint James School!

The profile for the election of the eighth bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles is now available.
“This marks an exciting and prayerful step forward in our journey together as a diocese, and we are deeply grateful to all who have helped shape this comprehensive reflection of our hopes, challenges, and vision for the future of this diocese,” wrote Bishop Search Committee Co-Chairs Thomas Diaz and the Rev.
