Sunday Celebrations

This Sunday, June 29, is full of celebration. Along with a day of baptism, we will bid farewell to Justin Baker-Rojas, a long-time innovator here at St. James. He designed our website many years ago, making a model for other churches. He offered an elegant branding scheme for our church publications, designed our newsletter, turns out lively social media content, and, heroically, brought us into the world of live streaming during the pandemic. Not only that, but Justin sang for many years with the Choir of Saint James, and is currently putting the finishing touches on a documentary about our choir! Join us for a special blessing and fancy coffee hour to celebrate Justin’s many ministries at St. James.

St. James Visit from Korean Clergy Colleagues

This week, recently retired St. James School chaplain the Rev. Canon Aidan Koh wound up his time at St. James with a visit from 25 Korean clergy colleagues. They were here in Los Angeles as members of EAM, the Episcopal AsiaAmerica Ministry.

The group learned from Fr. Jon Feuss about our plans to create a statue for the front of St. James Church that honors retired Korean Bishop Simon Seong-su Kim, the 2nd Bishop of Seoul, a beloved leader. Congratulations Fr. Koh, for a week of celebrations and time with dear friends and colleagues.

Men's Group Retreat

CHANGE OF DATE! The Men’s Group is holding a full-weekend retreat the first weekend in August (rather than in July), and there’s still time to join us! It will now be the weekend of August 1-3 at the Mary and Joseph retreat center in Rancho Palos Verdes (https://www.maryjoseph.org). The cost is $425 for a shared room and $545 for a single room. This registration fee covers lodging Friday and Saturday evening and all meals from Friday's dinner until Sunday's lunch. A $100 deposit can be made on the church’s website, under “giving." Please let us know of your interest as soon as possible, but by June 30 at the latest. You can email Jim Stewart at jestew@ucla.edu or alanheppel@icloud.com. We look forward to your fellowship!
