Men's Group Retreat

CHANGE OF DATE! The Men’s Group is holding a full-weekend retreat the first weekend in August (rather than in July), and there’s still time to join us! It will now be the weekend of August 1-3 at the Mary and Joseph retreat center in Rancho Palos Verdes (https://www.maryjoseph.org). The cost is $425 for a shared room and $545 for a single room. This registration fee covers lodging Friday and Saturday evening and all meals from Friday's dinner until Sunday's lunch. A $100 deposit can be made on the church’s website, under “giving." Please let us know of your interest as soon as possible, but by June 30 at the latest. You can email Jim Stewart at jestew@ucla.edu or alanheppel@icloud.com. We look forward to your fellowship!

Episcopal Dodger Night is planned for August 29

Join St. James In-the-City and hundreds of other SoCal Episcopalians and Lutherans for Episcopal Night at Dodger Stadium to watch the Dodgers play the Diamondbacks on Friday, August 29th at 7:00 p.m. Ticket prices this year are $42 each. A drone show will follow the game.

Tickets must be ordered and paid for in advance no later than Sunday, July 20. Payments may be made by check (made out to St. James with “Dodger Night” written on the memo line), or online at https://secure.myvanco.com/YM5N/campaign/C-14Z59 and will be sent to you by email only.

St. James Day - Save the Date

On Sunday, July 20th we will celebrate our patron saint, Jesus' disciple James, for St James Day! Be sure to join in that day's special liturgy followed by a celebratory lunch on St James School Field immediately following the 10:30AM service. There will be a taco truck on hand, and you are invited to bring a dessert or just yourself!

All invited to Guibord Center dinner honoring Bishop Taylor July 17

The 2025 Guibord Center annual celebration dinner themed “We Are the Light” will take place July 17, beginning at 6 p.m. The event will begin with a tour of the St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral and continuing with a dinner and program. The celebration, which will honor Bishop John Harvey Taylor, recognizing his dedicated interfaith work, will take place at the Huffington Center at the St. Sophia Cathedral, 1324 Normandie Ave., Los Angeles.

“When we come together, we create something bright and luminous — a reflection of the Sacred in all its diversity,” The Guibord Center wrote in an invitation “At the Guibord Center, we believe in the power of gathering to open hearts, shift narratives, and build bridges. Our work has never been more urgent, or more full of hope.”
