Capital Campaign Gifts

Continuing this Sunday, Kate+ and Jon+ will be available in the church offices after the 8 and 10:30 services to discuss your individual capital campaign contributions with you. And, for this week only, a donor will match dollar-for-dollar capital campaign commitments up to $20,000. If you haven’t made your capital campaign commitment yet, this Sunday is the perfect Sunday to do so. We are very much hoping for 100% participation from the congregation so please remember to swing upstairs for this brief conversation on this final Sunday in March.

St. James 2025 Womens Retreat: Spiritual Growth Through Challenges
Led by The Rev. Kate Cress

Deadline for registration: Tuesday, April 1

Hello women of St. James!

Our retreat is one week away!
Mother Kate recently recorded a video "Celebrating the Women of St James" as she reflected during Women's History Month and we are indeed a celebration when we gather together!

We hope you've seen recent newsletters that announced our retreat plans. We are gathering at the lovely St Paul’s Commons Retreat Center in Echo Park on Saturday, April 5th from 9:30-3:30. Address: 840 Echo Park Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90026.

It's our greatest desire that you can join us in this beautiful day of prayer, reflection, and conversation. Share the news with family, come with a friend, make new friends, enjoy lunch, a lakeside walk, and more. Please be sure to Register on the church’s website (Giving Page) by the end of March. Call or Email one of us on the planning group if we can assist in making any dietary or carpool arrangements. For scholarship information, contact Mother Kate.

Standing Committee invites applications for Bishop Transitions Committee

By Judy Stark, consultant to the Bishop Search Committee

The Standing Committee is seeking applications from parishioners who would like to serve on the Transitions Committee for the election of the bishop coadjutor of the EpiscopalDiocese of Los Angeles.

“This is the team that will introduce the candidates to the diocese and the diocese to the candidates,” said the Rev. Kate Cress, president of the Standing Committee. “We're looking for people with a wide variety of skills in hospitality, event planning, and pastoral care.”

An application form will be posted on the diocesan website on March 21. Deadline for applications is April 11. Those selected for the committee — a group of about 10 to 15 — will be expected to attend an opening retreat at St. Paul's Commons on May 3.

The Transitions Committee will plan and conduct meet-and-greet sessions around the diocese with the candidates in October and will assist with the election in November and the consecration of the coadjutor-elect in July 2026.

“Once the slate is announced in September, the baton passes from the Search Committee to the Transitions Committee,” Cress said. “We need a diverse group of people who are enthusiastic about our diocese, people with experience putting on big events, and people who can provide warm pastoral care to our candidates and their families. We look forward to receiving applications from all around the diocese.”
