June at St. James: Transitions and Celebrations

In the month of June here at St. James, we will be marking three important transitions: our beloved music director Canon James Buonemani announced this Sunday he will be retiring (luckily he will be with us through November 💕); the Rev. Canon Aidan Koh, adored priest and St. James School chaplain, retires at the end of the school year; and Justin Baker-Rojas, our extremely talented Director of Digital Ministry, will embark on new adventures in the world of communications.

A Special Message and Letter to the Congregation from Canon James Buonemani

The Rev. Canon Aidan Koh Retires

Next Sunday, June 8, will be such a special day! It’s Pentecost — so remember to wear red! — and come ready to celebrate Father Koh’s 30+ year ministry at St. James. The St. James School Choir will be with us along with the school’s Korean Drumming group, and coffee hour will be extra festive. Father Koh is a true legend and will be deeply missed.

Celebrating Justin Baker-Rojas

On Sunday, June 29 we will bid farewell to Justin Baker-Rojas, a long-time innovator here at St. James. He designed our website many years ago, making a model for other churches. He offered an elegant branding scheme for our church publications, designed our newsletter, turns out lively social media content, and, heroically, brought us into the world of live streaming during the pandemic. Not only that, but Justin sang for many years with the Choir of Saint James, and is currently putting the finishing touches on a documentary about our choir! Join us for a special blessing and fancy coffee hour to celebrate Justin’s many ministries at St. James.
