New One-Day Class on April 27th

Led by Felicia Gaddis

The Anglican Rosary… what is it? How is it different from the Roman Catholic/ Marian Rosary? How do you pray the Anglican Rosary? Join Felicia Gaddis on April 27th when she will explore these questions. We will learn some of the many ways to pray the Anglican Rosary which include for healing, praying the psalms and Christian meditation.

This one-day class will be given twice: Once after the 8:00am service and again after the 10:30am service. Those who attend will receive their own set of beads.

Celebrating the April Women's Retreat

On Saturday, April 5, a group of 33 women from St. James enjoyed a full day retreat in Echo Park. We explored the scriptural tradition of lament as a way of understanding how to grow strong in our relationship to God especially in times of challenge. Many thanks to the organizers, Gail Fisher, SaraJane Thies, Ingrid Finley-Scott, and Holly Holyk for a beautiful day.

Capital Campaign Update

Thanks to your generosity, we have raised $3,500,800 towards the capital campaign - we're over 88% funded! The goal continues to be 100% participation, so if you have not done so, please pray about how you can support the capital campaign. If you have any questions, please reach out to Kate+ or Jon+.

Standing Committee invites applications for Bishop Transitions Committee

By Judy Stark, consultant to the Bishop Search Committee

The Standing Committee is seeking applications from parishioners who would like to serve on the Transitions Committee for the election of the bishop coadjutor of the EpiscopalDiocese of Los Angeles.

“This is the team that will introduce the candidates to the diocese and the diocese to the candidates,” said the Rev. Kate Cress, president of the Standing Committee. “We're looking for people with a wide variety of skills in hospitality, event planning, and pastoral care.”

An application form will be posted on the diocesan website on March 21. Deadline for applications is April 11. Those selected for the committee — a group of about 10 to 15 — will be expected to attend an opening retreat at St. Paul's Commons on May 3.

The Transitions Committee will plan and conduct meet-and-greet sessions around the diocese with the candidates in October and will assist with the election in November and the consecration of the coadjutor-elect in July 2026.

“Once the slate is announced in September, the baton passes from the Search Committee to the Transitions Committee,” Cress said. “We need a diverse group of people who are enthusiastic about our diocese, people with experience putting on big events, and people who can provide warm pastoral care to our candidates and their families. We look forward to receiving applications from all around the diocese.”
